"This recording is a series of beautiful works in which the star recordings are not the standards of the repertoire, but the more modern original works that are sure to be a delight to clarinetists looking for something new to perform. Lee's approach to the clarinet is unique and uncompromising, and her love for lyricism and romanticism is clear." Amanda McCandless

"Last night, Seunghee Lee opened Charles R. Hale’s 2018 series “Thoroughly New York.” She was an unequivocal success.... I’d never experienced a classically trained musician of Seunghee Lee’s talent, combine superior musicality and riveting storytelling. A novel concept, superbly crafted. It was an exceptional evening..." Review by Vincent Nauheimer

Lee also offers some tuneful contemporary contributions, namely ‘Executive’ by Italian composer Michele Mangani, ‘Romance’ by Danish composer Bent Sorensen, ‘Coming Home’ by American composer Augusta Gross, and the Suite from The Victorian Kitchen Garden by the late British composer Paul Reade. The concert is well played. Lee has a pleasant, woody sound, expressive phrasing, and reliable fingers and articulation, and Gislinge adds great skill, clarity, and sensitivity… American Record Guide – May/June 2018, p.182

"Lee performs each work with the utmost sensitivity and musical conviction....Her activities as a recording artist have gained her critical acclaim in the pages of this publication and Fanfare, as well as consistently high rankings by classical radio stations on a global scale. Lee’s true passions lie in using the power of music to shed light on humanitarian issues and inspire philanthropy to counter them, which motivated her to found the recital series Concert for Cause...."

"My Delight of the Week! One of the difficult pleasures of my job is having to listen to many, many new releases, and then choosing a delight from amongst a selection of wonderful and often incredibly varied CDs. Seunghee Lee is an artist whose work I simply enjoy. She simply gets out of the way and makes beautiful music for us (amply aided by pianist Evan Solomon). Her previous CD has been a staple of our playlist, and this CD, with a continuation of well-loved, "timeless classic" works is simply more of the same, in the best possible way. While many of our listeners enjoy a challenge from time to time, the majority of our listeners simply want to hear and enjoy beautiful music. Here it is - again!"
SOLACE-HEALING THROUGH MUSIC

"When tragedy strikes our lives, time doesn’t heal wounds. Words of condolence are not enough to alleviate the painful heart, but once we start surrendering our wounded hearts to the magical beauty of music, we may just be able to find solace from within…Structured around 5 stages of grieving ( Denial, Depression, Anger, Bargaining, Acceptance), SOLACE is a personal musical healing project I created to pay tribute to my father, whose life was taken away in senseless gun violence on the south side of Chicago. May the power of music bring us comfort and healing and enable us to seek compassion, forgiveness, appreciation, and love for one another. Let's spread MUSIC and LOVE, not bullets and hatred, and make this world a better place..."

1989 ICA Young Artist Competition winner Seunghee Lee has made a name for herself transcribing and recording operatic and orchestral works for clarinet and piano. Her 2014 CD Hidden Treasures was the third in her series. With encouragement from her former Yale professor David Shifrin, and the desire to help young clarinetists develop the vocal side of their playing, Lee has produced a combination set of the Hidden Treasures CD and the sheet music of the selections....CLICK TO READ MORE
AUDIOPHILE AUDITION CLASSICAL CD REVIEW

"Lovely and mostly rewarding collection of “easy listening” clarinet....Korean born Seunghee Lee is a very refined and talented artist with a pleasant tone and facile technique. There is much to admire in her playing and in looking at her training resume this is not a surprise. Lee grew up in Chicago and studied with many of the country’s great clarinetists including David Shifrin, Charles Neidich, George Silfies and John Bruce Yeh, to name but a few..."
FROM COMPETITION TO COMPASSION Competition to Compassion by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold

“I’ve gone from competitive to compassionate,” acclaimed clarinetist Seunghee Lee says simply. When I was young it was all about winning competitions and pushing myself always to do better than I had done yesterday. I felt that I needed to prove again and again my musical abilities. And by doing that, I was getting in the way of the music and not letting it flow through me. By taking some time off, I was able to realize what it is I really want in life...."

"There is a hidden place in our soul where the deepest desires lie. The dreams, that maybe have not yet taken shape, nor an idea of direction, but nonetheless, they are there, pushing to take flight. To give wings to these dreams, one “must persevere, believe in them and work hard, so that they will materialize.” -BY LUCIA MARUZELLI/Mind the Gap HK
FANFARE REVIEW: HIDDEN TREASURE CD

"Her tone is unabashedly romantic and expressive at the same time that her choice of styles varies sufficiently to demonstrate the incredible range of her clarinet, as well as her own dazzling technique. Lee is able to coax from her instrument a vast palette of emotions and voices and to imbue her sound with a human timbre. She possesses a lush, velvety tone, a breathtaking legato, an unerring feel for cantabile phrasing, at the same time that she is the master of clarity of articulation and virtuosic ornamentations..."

"Some people are lucky enough to take to golf like a duck to water but even so, Sunny Kang's rise is by anyone's reckoning little short of amazing. Setting foot on a course for the first time in 2006, Sunny reached a single-figure handicap at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club within the space of just two years, winning numerous tournaments along the way. Such has been her progress and commitment to the game that she is now the club's lady captain..."
